VI Partners welcomes Asher Siddiqui as Advisor

VI Partners announces the appointment of Asher Siddiqui as Advisor. Asher adds to the team decades of experience as technology entrepreneur and venture capitalist, and a vast network to the global tech community.

Asher is an active coach and advisor to several GP’s and sits on the Advisory Board or Investment Committee of several VC firms, including: Race Capital, Merus Capital, Sukna Ventures, Lumikai Fund I and now VI Partners. In addition, Asher works with the Stanford Center for Sustainable Development & Global Competitiveness on conducting research on innovation ecosystems and corporate innovation. He is also an active mentor & coach to founders of enterprise software startups in Silicon Valley and the Middle East.

Previously, Asher was part of the global leadership team (partner & member of the Investment Committee) at 500 Startups, dividing time between San Francisco and the Middle East, where he raised significant capital and was a GP on flagship fund(s). Prior to 500, Asher was Group Vice President and Global Head of M&A at Etisalat Group (a leading listed telecom group) and Investment Committee member of Etisalat’s Mobily Ventures. He was also a founding Board Member at iMENA Group and the Chairman of the Investment Committee.

Prior to Etisalat, Asher was part of the initial founding team that led the development of CNBC Africa and before that managed the development of a $26m venture investment vehicle for The Center for Applied Research & Training (CERT) in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with the MIT Entrepreneurship Centre (2004/05).

Asher started his career as an entrepreneur in the late 1990’s and was a co-founder or part of the early founding teams at several start-ups in the UK and the USA, including Instantreg.com and Asite.com. Asher has a BA (Hons) in Business Administration and an MSc in Software Development from Coventry University and has attended several executive development programs at HBS, MIT Sloan, INSEAD and Stanford.
