Altendorf, Switzerland, October 13, 2026. Vi Partners, Switzerland’s longest-established venture capital investor, welcomes Dr. Magdalena Plotczyk as Principal on the Healthcare team. Her appointment strengthens the firm’s expertise at the intersection of science, technology and healthcare innovation.

Investing where digital meets science

The potential for digital technology in healthcare extends beyond digitizing existing services. In research, digital tools can help design experiments, uncover disease biology and identify drug candidates. In clinical practice, they can turn medical images, molecular data and physiological measurements into meaningful signals that help clinicians detect disease and monitor treatment response. Their role extends to treatment itself, through software that delivers therapeutic interventions or helps tailor care to individual patients.

The strongest companies translate these capabilities into measurable progress: better drug candidates, more reliable diagnoses or improved treatment outcomes. For Vi Partners, scientific validation, clinical usefulness and a credible route to adoption at scale are central to assessing these businesses.

Strengthening the healthcare team

Magdalena brings experience both in evaluating the underlying science and in understanding what it takes to build a successful healthcare business around it. She conducted biomedical research at University College London, Karolinska Institutet, EPFL and Imperial College London, where she completed a PhD in Bioengineering combining approaches from molecular biology, microscopy and mechanics. At Imperial’s technology transfer office, she gained first-hand experience in translating scientific discoveries into products with commercial value.

She started her venture career as an Investment Fellow at Heal Capital before joining MTIP, a Basel-based healthcare growth equity fund. There, she worked across investment sourcing, deal structuring and execution, and supported portfolio companies through board roles and add-on acquisitions. Investing in and working closely with companies developing software and technology for healthcare gave her insight into the full business lifecycle, from product development, sales and marketing to acquisitions and exit preparation.

At Vi Partners, Magdalena will apply this perspective to investments across life sciences, medtech and digital health, seeking companies with evidence that their technology can address large unmet scientific and clinical needs. She also brings a clear understanding of the commercial and operational challenges these companies will face as they move from initial validation to broader adoption.

“I started my career at the lab bench and have since seen from the boardroom what it takes to turn technology into a healthcare business,” says Magdalena. “The companies I want to back use digital tools and AI to solve a clearly defined scientific or clinical problem and can show the data to prove it. I’m excited to join Vi Partners and back founders from the earliest stages.”
